Do I stay with the pursuing avenger, or go with the unity avenger? Choices, choices...
So, since the Player's Guide has come out, we've had a total of a whopping 1, yes 1 session, and not everyone who is involved was there (of course, it's been 3 weeks now, and we ARE playing this coming Tuesday, but we'll be down 1 again -- and the leader this time! :-( ).
Of course, the reasons for not actually playing have been valid ones - one guy was gone for vacation (which since he does not get the entire summer time I get off for working in education (get out of the tech Cleon, get back in the class!) I can't blame him for that), my dad (who I haven't seen in 6 years) was in town the same week, and of course, my wife having major back surgery the next week (L5 S1 fusion for those of you who read this and were actually going to wonder!) is really a pretty decent excuse as well.
I was all excited to DM this game, and had actually come up with a decent 1st level module (taking some advice from Keith Baker, it was going to be a pre-adventure adventure during the Last War), but the group as a whole wanted to start at a higher level (7th is what we finally settled on, to give Vince who doesn't play 4E as much because of his work schedule, a chance to get to "know" his artificer), so my module has gone by the wayside (for now!). But as fate would have it, the Dungeon adventure for June was a 7th level Eberron adventure, so whoot!
It's actually a nice mixture of a group, with plenty of Eberron flavor (which I was hoping for!). We have the LG human swordmage of House Orien, a changling rogue, a half-elf artificer, a warforged druid (and yes, he does make the Transformer sound when he shapeshifts, and despite my pleas to name him Optimus Primal, he went with Sunstorm), and a warforged fighter.
The only session we've played so far involved the party (sans the fighter, who couldn't be there due to work issues, but being a fire fighter, I'll let Mike pass, he probably had to help save lives, a little more important than playing a game, IMO) getting to the mountain, and then them fighting the hobgoblin force at the entry. I thought the first battle would have been a bit less dangerous, but the rogue almost died in the first fight (but then again, he did taunt the leader of the hobs, so I had him go after him first).
Looking forward to the next session, especially now that we really understand how the artificer's healing works (we kinda messed it up during the encounter, but got it all straightened out afterwards), and now that all the EPG stuff is in the character builder, I'm hoping it will speed up play (especially now that the artificer stuff will be on Vince's sheet and he doesn't have to page through the book and keep calculating all of his numbers).
The Ashenport Dungeon adventure by Ari Marmell is our next stop after this one! Principalities, here they come!

Why does it seem that McAfee is the MOST worthless anti-virus program out there? I mean, malwarebytes found 24, yes 24 trojans and malwares on my system, McAfee found 1!!!!
Oh yeah, and the google re-direct virus? Nasty stuff! Disables your memory resident anti-virusware. Thankfully, I found out that Avast does a pre-boot scan! Yippie! Then malwarebytes got rid of the rest.
I hate you McAfee! If you didn't come free with my comcast account, I'd be rid of you!

I guess I should just update LJ every once in a while.
I have not seen this movie in, oh jeez, must be 15 years or so (man I'm feeling old!), but I watched it with my wife this evening. To preface this, she has never, EVER seen this movie (and if you haven't, it should be on your Things to do Before You Die List). We laughed through most of the movie, and Dice reminds me why he was funny -- for his day!
The movie is, well, not the greatest movie of all time, but it does contain, IMHO, perhaps one of the greatest scenes of all time! I laughed so hard, I almost popped my contact lens out! (True story!).
If I can quote Ford Fairlane "My hair, my hair!"
Seriously, rent this flick. You'll hate me and yourself afterwards, but it's worth the laughs!
